The New American Colleges and Universities
 
Each member institution will be represented on both The New American Colleges and Universities Board of Directors and the Council of Institutional Representatives.
 Board of Directors

The Board of Directors, comprising the presidents of each member institution and the chairs of the Councils of Institutional Representatives (IREPs), Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), and Senior Student Affairs Officers (SSAOs), approves and implements policy and programs related to the mission, governance, fiscal health, membership, reputation and planning of The New American Colleges and Universities; sets the annual budget; and selects and evaluates the Executive Director. The Board of Directors meets twice annually, usually in conjunction with the CIC Presidents' Institute and at the Summer Institute.

The Executive Director is an ex-officio member of the Executive Committee  
 Council of Institutional Representatives  (IREPS)

Each member institution designates its chief academic officer as its representative to the Council of Institutional Representatives (IREP), which meets twice a year. In addition, the Chair and Vice Chair of the Senior Student Affairs Affinity Group have seats on the Council. IREPS meet in January at the annual meeting of the American Association of Colleges and Universities and in June at the Summer Institute. Every three years, there is a joint meeting between the Chief Academic Officers and the Chief Finance and Administration Officers.

The IREP Council approves and implements policy related to the promotion of best practices in liberal education, including the purposeful and innovative integration of the liberal arts and sciences, professional studies, and civic engagement, both curricular and co-curricular, and plans and oversees related initiatives, e.g., best practice dissemination, professional development programs, off-campus study initiatives, and proposals for new collaboration.

The New American Colleges and Universities has one standing committee, the Membership Committee. The Membership Committee comprises two presidents appointed by the Chair of the Board of Directors (one of whom will serve as Chair of the Committee) and two provosts appointed by the Chair of the Council of Institutional Representatives.
