A season for both merriment and quiet reflection,
the holidays invite the joy of family and moments for renewal and
recommitment. For ANAC, 2002 has been a period of reflection highlighted,
perhaps, at the senior leadership conference of member presidents
and chief academic, finance, and student affairs officers in June
at North Central College. Notably, the conference brought
agreement on key priorities for ANAC's near future development.
As a result of the conference, ANAC established study and planning
committees for ANAC Academy and international education. Along with
the online learning planning committee created a year ago, these
bodies will present preliminary plans and recommendations at the
ANAC institutional representatives and the Presidents Council meetings,
January 22 in Seattle, and January 27 in Washington, DC, respectively.
ANAC's 2002 reflections provide strong prospects for renewal and
recommitment during 2003. Our aim is for each planning effort to
develop ANAC consortial programming that will:
- Yield effective fundraising strategies to counter the difficulties
in attracting national foundation support for higher education
in recent years.
- Establish robust collaborative programs that provide direct
educational, financial, and professional development benefits
to ANAC members.
- Engage new ANAC member constituencies in ANAC activities.
May you and your campus community experience peace and joy this
holiday season!
