
China and Japan:
Expand your knowledge of East Asia by studying in both China and Japan in one semester. Your first eight weeks of the fall semester will be in Beijing, PRC (at Beijing Foreign Studies University), followed by seven weeks in Kameoka (at Kyoto Gakuen University), just outside Kyoto, Japan. Intensive Chinese and Japanese language study, culture courses, and field trips included. One week free for travel in October.

Costa Rica:
Spend fall semester studying, living with a host family, and working in Costa Rica--first on the Pacific coast and later in the capital city of San José. Study intensive Spanish for the first eight weeks in Manuel Antonio, followed by a mid-term excursion to Nicaragua. The final six weeks include more Spanish instruction, internships, and volunteer community work in San José. No prior knowledge of Spanish required.

Live and study in Harlaxton Manor, a nineteenth-century manor house, one hour outside of London. The curriculum is centered on a required six-credit course in British Studies, an integrated overview of British culture, which includes two weekly lectures, two weekly tutorials, and three required field trips that provide experiential learning opportunities. An optional weekend travel program is offered by the college at additional expense. Courses in nursing and engineering are offered each fall, and courses in education are offered most years.

Greece:
Drury University Center in Aigina, a Greek island near Athens offers a rich educational experience, including participation in everyday life on a fascinating Greek island; an intensive academic program with workshops, seminars and lectures; extensive group travel in Greece as well as one other Mediterranean country are part of the total experience. Aigina is the second largest island in the bay of Athens. It is an artistic, intellectual, and entertainment center. Live and study in studio apartments and Drury’s new facility located in the heart of the island. All courses are taught in English.

Norway:
This fall semester semester program at Hedmark University in Hamar, Norway focuses on Norway’s approach to democracy, development and peace in our world today. American students study alongside Namibian and Norwegian students, providing opportunities to compare and contrast worldviews. Students participate in interdisciplinary study of Norwegian culture and society with an emphasis on themes of global engagement and peacemaking. You will study the Nordic democratic model at the beginning of your time at the university and will complete a field study and research project at the end. View brochure.

Senegal:
Improve your French while studying alongside Senegalese students for spring semester, or for a full academic year, at the University Gaston Berger in St. Louis, Senegal, a lively African town with a bustling marketplace and an annual international jazz festival. Excursions during the semester include an orientation tour and exploration of the city of Saint Louis, ending at Cape Saint Louis for an overnight beach stay; a day at Djoudi, the second largest migratory bird site in the world; and four days and three nights in Nokolokoba, a wild game refuge, including stops at historically significant mosques, temples, and churches along the way. Must have at least two years of college-level French.

Spain - Alcalá de Henares:
This fall semester program, offered by Butler University in cooperation with the Instituto Franklin of the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, is designed for students with high-intermediate or advanced proficiency. Choose from a wide range of courses – language, literature, history, gender studies, popular culture, and more – taught completely in Spanish, but designed for non-native speakers. Two multi-day excursions to other regions of Spain are included in the program. All students live with Spanish families a short walk or a short bus ride from campus. Alcalá de Henares, just 17 miles from Madrid, has been designated a World Heritage City by UNESCO because of its historical and cultural significance. Students must have completed at least two semester-length Spanish courses at the third-year college level to be eligible.
